About HAN•GL

Boilerplate copy for articles and reviews — short and long versions.

Short (one-liner)

HAN•GL is a Korean learning app that teaches the alphabet through King Sejong's story, then builds real vocabulary with native audio.

Medium (one paragraph)

HAN•GL is a Korean language app built around the story of King Sejong, who created the Hangul alphabet in 1443. New learners read Korean in a single week of casual sessions, then move into themed vocabulary — food, travel, K-pop, family — with native audio for every word. No romanization, no streak guilt, no ads. Solo-built, illustrated by hand, and free on iOS and Android.

Long (press boilerplate)

HAN•GL is a Korean language platform that teaches Hangul, the Korean alphabet, through the historical narrative of King Sejong's invention of it in 1443 — and then layers a growing, collectible vocabulary library on top. The app is structured as a single-language depth product: every illustration, every line of copy, every audio sample is purpose-built for Korean, not adapted from a multi-language template. Free tier covers all of Hangul (15 chapters, 40 letters, three milestone tests, native audio) so any learner can read Korean without paying. A subscription unlocks the full vocabulary collection, quizzes, and ongoing content drops. The app launched in February 2026, has grown organically with zero ad spend, and is positioned to become the definitive Korean language app. Built solo by founder Kevin Myung (who goes by Yuno).

Kevin Myung (Yuno)

Founder, designer, and sole developer of HAN•GL

Kevin Myung — who goes by Yuno — is a polyglot founder rebuilding Korean language pedagogy from scratch, not translating an English-Korean curriculum, but designing one that works the way Korean was meant to be learned. He writes the curriculum, illustrates every visual, curates the vocabulary, and ships the code himself.
